What’s it like to write a novel?

 

It sometimes seems to me like tapping a friend on the shoulder and saying, “Hey, if you’ve got some time, I have this great story.”

 

In a way, it can feel like a conversation between writer and reader that connects on different levels, or different stages. And in that sense, forms a kinship, traveling through the story together.

 

I am fortunate to have so many friends—some I know, many I don’t—who have taken the time to travel along through my stories.
